• About the HBA of West Florida

Founded in 1950, the Home Builders Association of West Florida (HBA) is dedicated to promoting and protecting Northwest Florida's housing industry. The HBA, which serves Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties, was founded by a group of building professionals who recognized the need to network and share experiences. The HBA employs a professional staff of three, and has 50 members serving on its Board of Directors, which elects the association's eight Senior Officers and helps set the association’s agenda.  The HBA of West Florida is a "local" association and when you join on the local level you automatically become a member of the state and national associations.  We provide our members the opportunity to promote their business through industry involvement, community involvement, networking, and public events while offering member discounts and advocacy through the state and national programs.

    Three Memberships in One

As a member of the HBA of West Florida, you are joining one of 800+ local building industry associations in the nation and become part of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in Washington, D.C.  In addition, you automatically become a member of the 17,000-plus corporate-member Tallahassee-based Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA).  With your Three in One Membership you are part of a 220,000 corporate-member network and have access to a wide range of information, activities and services – as well as volunteer opportunities that will contribute to the success of your business. About one-third of NAHB's members are home builders and/or remodelers. The remaining members are associates who work in one of the many related fields that are directly and indirectly connected to the housing industry.  HBA members have access to the Member Advantage Program which offers numerous discount and savings opportunities provided by many top companies who have partnered with NAHB & FHBA.

    Industry Involvement

The HBA's cornerstone is its governmental affairs, political action and legal defense programs designed to promote and protect homeownership opportunities in Northwest Florida. By taking on an active role in your industry, you become a driving force in shaping the future for homeowners and businesses who depend on our members to monitor changes and fight to protect our industry. Your membership as a Builder/Developer or Associate Member can be further tailored to your specific needs through HBA council and committee participation. You will find a network of peers in each council and committee discussing and addressing the issues you deal with every day.  Currently, the following council and committee's are available to HBA members: Auxiliary Council;  Cost and Codes Committee; Governmental Affairs Committee; Membership Committee.

    Community Involvement

HBA membership is about more than building communities, it's about being part of the community. Whether it's donating clothing and gifts to the children at the Lakeview Center, donating time and materials to build a gazebo at a local elementary school, or painting the home of senior citizens, HBA members are active in their neighborhoods and generously share their knowledge, skill, time and money with their neighbors. For many years, the HBA has given back to the community by taking an active role in projects that help to better the lives of children and people in need. The HBA was recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) in celebrating National Philanthropy Day as Outstanding Charitable Organization. Business Promotion

Each year the HBA promotes the building industry by hosting the Home & Product Expo, Parade of Homes and the Showcase of Homes.  The Home & Product Expo is a three day event that provides an opportunity for HBA members to educate the general public on the products and services they offer.  The Parade of Homes and Showcase of Homes are each nine day events that provide our Builder and Developer members the opportunity to allow the general public to tour new subdivisions and homes that are currently available in the area.  All three events are highly anticipated by local individuals who are in the market to buy, build or update their existing homes.  As a member of the HBA of West Florida you will have the opportunity to promote your business by being a part of these great events.
